Smile!

These three zebras posed beautifully for me as we drove past. I was one of the guys who had to install new computer systems in the tourist souvenir shops all around the Kruger Park. This had the added benefit of game drives between the various sites and I used the opportunity to take a few pictures 'on the way to the office'.

The photo was taken in the Southern end of the Kruger Park close to the main camp, Skukuza.

Midnight Moon

Well, not exactly midnight, but late enough. My trusty little Kodak isn't really the type of camera to use for this type of photography but that said, I think they came out alright.


I look forward to this type of photography when I get my Nikon - that should allow for better focus and will hopefully show the moon and not just a bright white smudge. :)

The Sugar Cane Fields

This picture was taken while on a bike ride through the Gold Coast countryside. I rode to Cabbage Tree Point, and after turning around took this picture before taking on the long road back. This area is used for cultivating sugar cane, as can be seen in this picture.

The blue gum tree on the left has so much character - one wonders what it would tell were it able to speak...

Beautiful Nature

I couldn't help myself, I have something for a beautiful flower and just had to add this one too...

Even though I like flowers I'm not big on names. Please leave a comment if you know what it is, and then I can learn something too... :)

Solitary Tree on Skopps Rd

One fine Saturday morning I decided to go for a bike ride. I'm curios by nature, so every time I got to a new road I just had to see what lies ahead. I ended up at Cabbage Tree Point, which is 22.7km from where I live. Going there was the easy part, it was the trip back that made me think that it might not have been the best idea in the world. I could hardly get out of bed the next day! But as you can see in the picture below (and more to come), it was a trip filled with the most beautiful scenery.

Morning Splendour

I took this picture while on an early morning bike ride in Pimpama, a small suburb just north of Upper Coomera where I live. This area is still fairly sparsely populated with much of the surrounding area being farmland or smaller plots of land.

Not the best quality as it was taken with my trusty little iPhone, but I think it's a nice picture none the less.

A Study Of Ivy

During my week long stay in Canberra I walked past this Ivy plant each day on my way to the office. Of course I just had to photograph it. :)

Grassy plain

This picture was taken early one morning while on a walk in Upper Coomera, Queensland. This grassy plain can be found between St Stephens Rd and Yaun Creek. There is a lovely secluded footpath that winds it's way through the trees and grasslands. 

Parliament House

These are two pictures that I took of Parliament House in Canberra. The first was taken late afternoon in the rain. I was standing on the footpath which runs parallel to Lawson Cres at the very top end of the lake.

A different view and taken much later in the evening. In this picture I put my little Kodak through it's paces, with full zoom and shutter speed set to 16 seconds. It was taken from the balcony of my hotel room at the Lakeside Park Rydges, on the corner of London Circuit and Edinburgh Ave.

Hello?

This little fellow was sitting in the rain and eyed me curiously as I passed, watching my every move, first with the one eye, then with the other. I'm glad he allowed my to take his picture, after which he promptly flew off.

Diamonds strewn across the path

I have come to the conclusion that you don't need to be at some exotic location to be presented with nature's beauty. Even in something as basic and mundane as a fallen leaf one can see the exquisite beauty that nature has to offer, free to anyone who cares to notice. I spent a week at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. When I arrived it was raining, and when I left it was raining, and all the days in between it was raining. The result was many photos featuring raindrops in various forms. This is a leaf that I captured on the side walk with diamond-like droplets. The light was not very good, which meant slow shutter speeds and slightly out of focus pictures, but my humble little Kodak did a good job in the end.
