As I was packing up at work when someone mentioned that there was a protest outside. When I got out I saw about 5 people protesting about the criminalisation of dissent. Huh?

Music on a Brisbane Street

Street musicians are a fairly common sight on the streets of the Brisbane CBD. I saw this guy on the corner of Queen Street and Edward Street, entertaining the public with his mellow tunes.

As I was walking in Wickham Park I saw a beautiful young lady relaxing in the warm afternoon sun. I later learned that her name is Amy, and she kindly agreed that I can post her picture on my blog.

Rust in Peace

I saw this old car (I think it's a Morris, but stand corrected) one afternoon driving in Ormeau in South Eastern Queensland. The owner of the paddock was a dear old lady who kindly gave me permission to wander about and take a few pictures. I'm sure if this car could talk I would have been kept entertained all day long with stories of a time long past...

Leaving, on a jet plane...

I stood on the pier at Barangaroo looking towards the Anzac Bridge when I took this picture of a departing Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-8F.

If you zoom in to closely to the airplane (probably not possible on the lower resolution version of the image posted here) you notice that it is part of Cathay Pacific's Cargo fleet. The design of the plane (shorter upper deck and sawtooth engine nacelles) identifies it as being a brand new plane. The first one of these were delivered to Cathay Pacific in December 2011. These freighters have higher payloads (154 tonnes) and have a longer range (8 130km, or 5 050 mi) than that of their older cousins, the 747-400s.

Mission Girl

As I walked down Queen Street Mall during my lunch break yesterday I came across four friendly girls busy taking photos of this colourful still life display. This, I learned, was part of the pre-launch of their Mission Girl initiative. I think it's an excellent project, and I'm not just saying so because they gave me a choc-chip cookie! :)
