A glimpse into an era long past - this is a dry press brick making machine that was made by George Foster & Sons Pty. Ltd. It was advertised as having a capacity of 10 000 to 11 000 bricks per 8 hour day.
George Foster started to manufacture brick making machines in 1898 - a time when the company had only a 4-digit telephone number in Sydney. The company lasted until about 1969.

This machine stands at the entrance of The Brick Pit, a historic site in the Sydney Olympic Park. I was in Sydney for work and took a stroll one night when I took these photos.
Very cool - I have no idea what the machine my gear was attached to made. I like that you took these at night, the lighting gives a kind of post apocalyptic feeling to the machine.
